- Baptism
Baptism signifies a significant act of obedience, demonstrating our personal trust in Jesus for salvation. Following the example set by Jesus during His time on earth, water baptism serves as a public declaration affirming three key aspects: our commitment as followers of Jesus Christ, the commencement of a transformed life in Christ, and our inclusion in a new spiritual family.
Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).
What is Baptism?
Why Baptize?
Baptism is an action of obedience: Baptism is an action that identifies what we believe. Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16. One of the last instructions that Jesus gave His disciples was to go into the world and make disciples, baptizing them. It’s also an action of submission: it symbolizes submission to Christ and willingness to live God’s way. It’s a public declaration of a new association. Matthew 3:1-6. It’s also an action of identification and unification: Matthew 3:15, 2 Corinthians 5:21.
