Stolen Water

Proverbs 9: 13-18

13 Stupidity is like a loud, ignorant, shameless woman. 14 She sits at the door of her house or on a seat in the highest part of town, 15 and calls out to people passing by, who are minding their own business: 16 “Come in, ignorant people!” To the foolish she says, 17 “Stolen water is sweeter. Stolen bread tastes better.” 18 Her victims do not know that the people die who go to her house, that those who have already entered are now deep in the world of the dead.

Stolen water is a good time or pleasure that no one is supposed to about and you think no one will ever know. Hebrews 11:24-25 “24 It was faith that made Moses, when he had grown up, refuse to be called the son of the king’s daughter. 25 He preferred to suffer with God’s people rather than to enjoy sin for a little while. There are certain things you chose not to enjoy when you become a real Christian. There was a scarcity of water in Israel in those times that had pushed people to stealing water in those days. The water that was kept must have been very useful and important to the owner. When something is prohibited from you and you go after to get it, it means you are stealing the water. Songs of Solomon 4:12

“My sweetheart, my bride, is a secret garden,
a walled garden, a private spring;

Men by nature go for what they have been forbidden to have.

Genesis 2:8-9

“8 The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. 9 And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”.

Genesis 3:6

“6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was [a]pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.”

When you drink stolen water, it will be hard to stop. No matter our secretive you are, you will always have a confident and if you are dead to the Spirit, the secret will be let out. If you don’t beg for mercy, you will soon be caught. Genesis 49:1-4

 And Jacob called his sons and said, “Gather together, that I may tell you what shall befall you in the last days:

2 “Gather together and hear, you sons of Jacob,
And listen to Israel your father.

3 “Reuben, you are my firstborn,
My might and the beginning of my strength,
The excellency of dignity and the excellency of power.
4 Unstable as water, you shall not excel,
Because you went up to your father’s bed;
Then you defiled it
He went up to my couch.

Stolen water results in causes.  Examples of Stolen water are those bad habits that you engage in in secret believing no one is aware; Drugs, cheating on time card at work, sexual immorality with another person spouse, lies and forging documents, getting free assistance from government that you don’t deserve, filing taxes for dead people. The act of Stolen water is caused by foolishness and lack of understanding. No matter how long you hide things, it can’t be hidden forever. No matter how much you try to cover your fraudulent life, something will you give you away.

Why is Stolen Water sweet:

  • Because it is not your labor: Its sweet to get somethings you did not work for. When you don’t labor for something be careful how you get excited for it. It is sweet because you didn’t carry the labor of pain. People take stolen water because it feels like luxury. Pleasure not from God is a trick of the devil. James 5:5 “ You have lived on the earth in pleasure and [a]luxury; you have fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter.”
  • It is quicker: We always want things very quickly. There are certain things we want now that if we get it, it will kill us. It is a shameful thing that after getting it, they get you. It is terrible to lose something because you got it the wrong way. We don’t realize that what we have at this point in time is what God thinks we need at that season of our life, if we get more, we would get into the trap of the enemy. Father we reject whatever that is not from you, in Jesus Name. The flesh is powerful. Romans 13:14 “14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Every human being is capable of a stolen water but we overcome it by putting on the garment of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Galatians 5:16 “I say then, Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfil the works of the flesh”. Walking in the spirit means letting he Holy spirit over take your life. Foolishness makes people go for stolen water because this leads to death, Hell, Jail.

Stolen water are only good for the moment but ends in disgrace and shame.

Father, every pressure over our lives that pushes us to go for the stolen water, we ask for deliverance. For all those who are reaping the consequences of stolen water, Father be merciful. AMEN
